Demotivated and Discouraged

NOTE: This post originally appeared in my Patreon account on June 14th, 2022

Been writing the story now nonstop for over a year. Technically started 4/20/2021 (lol, blaze it) and haven't really stopped since. I suppose that's taken a toll on me a bit.

But more than that, the book's growth hasn't been as great as it can be. I mean, I kinda knew what I was in for. I always intended to write a female-led ensemble anti-establishment space opera. That's already not in my favor, considering the vast majority of sci-fi fans are male and conservative.

I knew that I'd have a dropoff by introducing a pacifist Muslim character, and another dropoff by introducing a genderfluid character. I definitely saw a great big dip in readership from those two. And it's seriously disheartening.

It didn't help that I talked with my ex about a month ago, and I've been feeling seriously depressed ever since. That convo really took a lot out of me. Out of her, too, I think.

Anyway, I've hit a point where I finally feel like quitting, more than a year into this project.

But I won't, of course. I'm going to finish this book, no matter what. And I think to get some of my energy back, I need to take a vacation. It's probably seriously needed at this point.

So I'll take a week off, recharge the batteries a little. And hope my readership grows a bit in that time. I may or may not publish anything to Patreon this Sunday, but things will definitely resume next Sunday.

Update: chapters are going out this week, but not next week.

Please tell your friends about the novel and help it grow.

Thanks for your patience and support!
